Japanese blogs get jazzed for PJT

September 21, 2007

You know you’ve hit on something great when even the home team sits up and takes notice. And that’s exactly what the biggest Japanese anime blogs have done on hearing about Pop Japan Travel’s upcoming tours — especially our groundbreaking Fujoshi Paradise Yaoi and Tokyo Darkside Goth-Loli tours.

The biggest Japanese anime news site, Anime! Anime!, has a post focusing on our ‘08 tours. A few translated samples:

“Since 2003, [Pop Japan Travel] has won fame conducting numerous tours of Akihabara, Nakano, Comiket, the Tokyo Game Show and other otaku themes… Digital Manga, which operates Pop Japan Travel, is an American anime and manga-related business. Because they are extremely familiar with news from fans, they’re well known for especially rich content even compared to general otaku tours.

“Especially standing out in their newly announced tour line-up are two tours aimed at women, the 2008 Fujoshi Paradise Yaoi Tour and the Darkside Goth-Loli Tour.

“Their Fujoshi Paradise Yaoi includes the holy land of yaoi, Otome Road, a yaoi cafe, and a meeting with a yaoi manga artist [Makoto Tateno]. What’s more, it will also visit 18+-only spots like Roppongi Kingyo at night, so it seems that, just like Digital Manga’s library, this tour will be considerably deep.

“The Japanese government has been working hard to raise the number of visiting tourists… using the charm of Japanese pop culture to push tours of Akihabara. But it seems fans overseas are already going beyond, even deeper into more diverse subcultures. One could also say the appearance of yaoi and goth-loli tours is a sign of the continuing otakuization of American women.”

Thanks, Anime! Anime! (Also thank you to the Tokyo Anime Center and H-Yamaguchi.net, which also posted about PJT!)
