Meet creators of “Vampire Hunter D” and visit the home of “Naruto” and “Bleach” on PJT’s Cold Steel Tour!

October 5, 2007

That’s right, we’re very happy to announce that Pop Japan Travel’s Cold Steel Tour from Jan. 28 to Feb. 6 now includes two EXCLUSIVE new activities: a visit to Studio Pierrot, the animators of “Naruto,” “Bleach” and many others, and a face-to-face meeting with Hideyuki Kikuchi, the creator of “Vampire Hunter D,” and Saiko Takaki, the artist of the upcoming “D” manga!

When we first asked about setting up the meeting with Mr. Kikuchi, we were told it would probably be impossible — after all, he is, as people in the office put it, “daisensei” — a really important character. Not only did he write all the “D” novels, he also wrote the stories behind “Wicked City,” “A Wind Named Amnesia,” “Demon City Shinjuku” and “Darkside Blues.” In short, he’s a giant in the anime industry. And since Ms. Takaki draws all of her manga herself, with no assistants, she’s incredibly busy. But Hikaru, our boss at Digital Manga, has made it happen, and now the tour group will get a chance to sit down and talk to Kikuchi and Takaki about their work!

We’re also scheduled to visit Studio Pierrot, one of Tokyo’s top animation studios. They’ve done a slew of my favorite shows, and probably some of yours too: “Naruto,” “Bleach,” “Urusei Yatsura,” “Fushigi Yugi,” “Yu Yu Hakusho,” “Great Teacher Onizuka,” “Twelve Kingdoms” and many, many more. Their newest show is “Blue Dragon” from Akira Toriyama, creator of “Dragon Ball.” At Pierrot, we’ll get a tour of the studio and its production process, talk to some of the animators and we might even be able to preview brand new footage! Pierrot is a working business, and so this far ahead there is a chance their schedules may change, but as of now we’re on our way!

You won’t find a Japan tour like this anywhere else!

Plus, we’re now offering a land-only package for the February tour priced at $2,200 (with no fuel surcharge). Click here to book your trip now!
