Tokyo Darkside Gothic & Lolita Tour

As seen in the Gothic and Lolita Bible
and the New York Times!

Delicate, cute, dangerous, cold. These are the many faces of Lolita fashion. It's swept the streets of Tokyo, changing the landscape of Japanese fashion. But American fans have always had to watch - and shop - from afar. Until now.

Digital Manga's Pop Japan Travel presents the Tokyo Darkside Tour, the definitive journey to the birthplace of Gothic & Lolita. Explore Tokyo's own historic haunts and modern miracles. Imagine showing off your own unique look in Harajuku, among the cherry blossoms of spring, and then embark on a shopping quest assisted by our knowledgeable bilingual guides. You'll even get to meet some industry insiders, drop in on a local Lolita hangout, go through Tokyo's darkest dining experience and much more!

Day: 14/11/08
Depart LAX
Embark on your journey
Meet your fellow Lolitas at the Tom Bradley International Terminal at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). If you're flying in from another city, we'll coordinate with you and meet at LAX.* Then (unless you chose the land only package) you'll board a flight to Narita International Airport in Tokyo! *Note: Flights to LAX must arrive MORE THAN TWO HOURS before Pop Japan Travel departs for Japan, to give us time to meet you and usher you through security.

Day: 24/12/08
Arrival in Japan
Land in Narita and settle in.
The next day (thanks to the international date line), you'll arrive in Japan and disembark at Narita International Airport. A charter bus will take the tour group to the hotel, while along the way PJT introduces you to the culture that will be your home for the next seven days - and to the wonderful world of the Japanese rest stop. Couples who wish to sleep together should contact PJT when you apply. Single occupancy is available at an additional charge.

Day: 34/13/08
Sunday in Harajuku
Dive into the world of Japanese street fashion and experience some of the city's best shopping and cultural sites.
It's Sunday morning in Tokyo. Where else to go than Harajuku, where every weekend young people on the bleeding edge of Tokyo fashion gather to show off the latest looks and meet others like them? You'll get the chance to see and be seen on the bridge near Harajuku Station and on the main drag, the capital of Japanese street fashion. Enjoy a tour of the exclusive boutiques and shops, then take a breather in the remarkable urban oasis of Meiji Shrine. But we're just getting warmed up, because in the afternoon we take you to the chaotic marketplace of Shibuya, then across Tokyo Bay to end the day in the modern wonderland of Odaiba!

Day: 44/14/08
Sushi, Sakura and High Fashion
Another tour of Tokyo takes you to the opposite side of the city for a picnic under the cherry blossoms, a stop in Akihabara and a visit to Ginza, the home of Japan's old school of high fashion!
It's April, and that means (if we are lucky) the sakura will be in bloom. And so we take you to Ueno Park, where Tokyoites go to appreciate the falling blossoms. Eat a picnic lunch under the cherry trees, take in an oddball street performance in front of the National Museum, and wander in Tokyo's oldest Western-style cultural center. Next it's nearby Asakusa, where every day is a festival under the immense Kaminarimon Gate. Then we take you from spring flowers to "the field of autumn leaves" -- the literal translation of "Akihabara," the anime and manga capital of the world. Round out the day in Ginza, the jewel of the Japanese luxury industry, where Japan's most respected brands go to show off their finest in design and decadence.

Optional Tour: Tsukiji Fish Market
For early risers (and trust me, the jet lag will have you awake at 4 a.m. anyway), PJT offers an optional trip to the Tsukiji Fish Market. Surround yourself with the wild and weird bounty of the seas, as enormous tuna, squid and more get auctioned off -- then a sushi breakfast, straight off the boat! There are only six spots available for this bonus tour, so apply now!

Day: 54/15/08
Free day in Tokyo
Gothic Lolitas on the loose!
Enjoy a free day to explore Japan's cosmopolis! Or, you have the option to join PJT's Fujoshi Paradise Tour for a day of exclusive boys' love activities you won't find anywhere else! (Ages 18 and up only.)

Day: 64/16/08
Tokyo Gothic
A day of exclusive PJT Gothic & Lolita activities!
This is the big day. Cruise Shinjuku and other Tokyo neighborhoods for the greatest and latest Gothic & Lolita brands: Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Victorian Maiden, Angelic Pretty, h.NAOTO, and more you may never have even heard of! Plus you'll get a chance to meet real Gothic & Lolita designers and industry insiders, and take part in two unforgettable dining experiences: the Christon Cafe, a stunning local Gothic & Lolita haunt with a classical European interior and red velvet as far as the eye can see, and dinner at the Lolita favorite Alice in Wonderland Restaurant in Ginza.

Day: 74/17/08
Another Free Day in Tokyo
Tokyo is your oyster
You asked for it, and here it is: More free time in the Land of the Rising Sun. Or: Join PJT's optional tour to Hakone, a beautiful geologically active area. Ride a cable car across the unrivaled mountain scenery to the incredible vista of Lake Ashi -- all in the shadow of Japan's iconic Mount Fuji.

Optional Tour: Hakone
Visit Hakone with PJT!

Day: 84/18/08
Depart Japan and Arrive at LAX
All Good Things...
And so must your trip to Japan. Return with the group (unless you chose the land only option) to the Tom Bradley International Terminal at Los Angeles International Airport, and it's all over. If you flew from a city other than Los Angeles, you'll need to transfer to your flight home on your own. Flights to other cities must be scheduled more than two hours after our arrival so you have time to go through customs and immigration. You'll be exhausted, but you'll come home with invaluable friendships, memories and souvenirs. Not to mention - in all likelihood - a new wardrobe!
