Let Pop Japan Travel take your students or colleagues inside Japanese pop culture in a way you never thought possible! Dream big: Our past tours have included meetings with great artists at Studio Ghibli ("Princess Mononoke," "Spirited Away"), visits to anime studios like Pierrot ("Naruto," "Bleach") and Gonzo ("Afro Samurai"), face-to-face interviews with legendary authors and manga artists such as Hideyuki Kikuchi ("Vampire Hunter D") and Yoshitoshi ABe ("Haibane Renmei"), and personal shopping experiences with fashion designers including Asuka and Maki of Angelic Pretty! No matter how far-fetched, we'll work to make your pop Japan dream a reality.

Of course, our trips also include a custom-made travel guide with an hour-by-hour itinerary, maps of all your destinations, cultural notes and language primers to help you navigate and professional guides!

For Students: A field trip they'll never forget

Our experienced tour guides, fluent in Japanese and educated in Japanese culture, can use Japanese comics and anime as a gateway to the exciting world of Japanese history, full of samurai battles, religious and political intrigue, and some of the world's most beautiful and subtle art and literature. Pop Japan Travel firmly believes that anime can be a fantastic pedagogical tool. The films of Hayao Miyazaki are a lesson in Japanese storytelling, folklore and social sentiment. Rurouni Kenshin can help students think about the Meiji Restoration. Gundam is a perfect introduction to post-World War II Japanese pacifism. Even a fantasy anime like Naruto, with its high-flying ninjas so removed from their sneaky real-life counterparts, can help students think about traditional Japanese warfare and literary tropes.

We also believe in presenting Japanese history as it is, not through rose-colored lenses. So please consider us for your next trip. We will work with you to produce a curriculum and itinerary that will change your students' lives!
