Hanabi Tour 2010 (August 3-11)

Would you like to go on a summer vacation you'll never forget? Come
experience summer vacation, Japan style with our 2010 Hanabi Tour! This
unique tour will whisk you from rural festivals to the big city as we
take in two of Japan's most famous hanabi ("firework") displays, shop
for yukata, and take in the sights and sounds of Japan in the summertime. To top it all off, we'll be spending the last part of our journey in a Japanese ryokan and hot spring ("onsen") overlooking the ocean from the scenic Ito Peninsula! Whether you want to play
the taiko drum, make friends, shop for anime and game merchandise, or
just witness some of the world's finest fireworks, the Hanabi Tour has
something for everyone!

Special Note About This Tour:

    We leave the urban sprawl of LA behind and depart for Tokyo!








  • Arrival in Japan! [-]

    After taking a bus to our hotel, we'll take a break before gathering for an optional trip to nearby Tokyo Tower!

  • Exploring Modern Tokyo [-]

    Before exploring festivals and traditional sights, we'll have a day in Western Tokyo to explore the city's modern facade. We'll start in Harajuku, where a quick visit to the famed Meiji Jingu Shrine will set the tone for the tour before we head to the area's modern, fashion-oriented side.

    The afternoon will bring us to the scramble crossing and Shibuya before we head to the skyscraper-covered landscape of Shinjuku to wrap up the day.

  • A Visit to the "Kyoto of Eastern Japan", Kamakura! [-]

    A traditional leg of the tour featuring temples, shrines, and other
    historical sites. This includes Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu Shrine in the morning, and Hase
    Temple and Kotoku-in in the afternoon, which is home to the famous daibutsu, or Great Buddha
    statue.

  • Edogawa Fireworks! [-]

    We'll spend the morning checking out the otaku haunts of Akihabara and Nakano Broadway before spending the evening being astounded by one of Japan's largest fireworks displays: the Edogawa Fireworks!

  • Free Day! [-]

    Take the day to check out places you may have missed, or revisit some of the places you wished you had more time to explore!

  • Ito and Taiko [-]

    After spending the morning in Tokyo's Motomachi area, we relocate to Ito and check in at our hot spring. Then, take the day to relax in the outdoor baths, explore the sea cliffs, and lounge in style before spending the evening at a giant Taiko concert!

  • The Anjinsai! [-]

    Get ready to spend an unforgettable day at Ito City's famed Anjinsai! You'll take in the parades, concerts, and food of this famous festival - and following one final group dinner, we'll head to the seashore to watch the second fireworks display of our journey.

  • Return Home [-]

    Return home and make your friends jealous by telling them how amazing your trip was!
